Overview of position

Working under the direction of Head of Commercial Insurance, the selected candidate identifies and evaluates the risks and needs of business insurance clients. He or she advises clients on the products best suited to their situation and negotiates their contracts with different insurers in order to offer the most attractive solutions possible. He/she is responsible for helping grow our client base by responding to incoming calls and online queries, as well as for providing meticulous, courteous, ongoing service to our existing clientele.

Detailed Description

1. Client services and support (new business and policy modifications)

• Establish professional, one-on-one contact with each client
• Validate the source that led the client to RFA
• Validate the information provided by the client using the CIDREQ website, the client’s website, etc.
• Verify whether the client is or has previously been an RFA client and whether they qualify based on their credit rating and analysis of previous claims (frequency) compared to the market or sector in which they operate
• Determine the client’s needs and expectations
• Confirm information provided by the client
• Explain the coverages and products available in easy-to-understand, lay terms
• Advise the client on the guarantees, deductibles, levels of protection and insurance products in accordance with the list provided
• If the coverage offered differs from the client’s request, clearly explain unavailable or limited guarantees to the client and propose scenarios with other options (higher deductible or additional protection, etc.)
• Take note of issuance conditions, and explain them clearly to the client
• Propose alternatives to the product offered, as well as additional guarantees
• Inform the client of the consequences of their or the insurer’s refusal to insure and the resulting obligations
• Record the products offered to the client, as well as those the client declined (notes, memos, etc.)
• Send the documents to the insurer and insured
• Issue, modify and cancel the policy in accordance with RFA internal procedures
• Cancel a policy for non-payment in accordance with internal procedures

2. Risk analysis (new business or policy modifications)

• After collecting data related to a proposal (RFA, Policy Work or Insurers), review and analyze the optimal coverage options of the selected insurance in order to meet the client’s needs
• Send all documents to the selected insurer to obtain a quote and conduct a follow-up indicating completed relevant tasks (request sent, etc.)
• Save the quote received and compare the rates (premiums and underwriting) to those of the requested protection
• Confirm contract issuance with the underwriter and make a note in the file
• Price the different levels of guarantee, deductible options and optional guarantees
• Negotiate terms with insurers

3. Claims processing

• Gather data and analyze the claim
• Inform the client of the possible impact of the claim on their policy
• Send the claim to the insurer and conduct the follow-up, etc.
• If in doubt of the validity of the claim, have the insurer open a file so that it can analyzed and investigated
• Verify the applicable penalties, impact or extent of the damage compared to the deductible (bonus or penalty)
• Provide the client with updates on their claim
• Conduct a follow-up and support the client making a claim in accordance with internal procedures

Credentials

Training

• Collage certificate in general insurance
• Commercial General Insurance certificate issued by the Autorité des marchés financiers (valid)

Experience

• Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in general insurance
